Agagu’s Death A Rude Shock – Ondo PDP

Late Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Agagu
By Saharareporters, New York
Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP) in Ondo State, Ebenezer Alabi, has
described the sudden death of former Governor
Olusegun Kokumo Agagu as a colossal loss to
the party as well as the people of the state at
large.
Mr. Alabi expressed the sentiment while
speaking to reporters at the party secretariat in
Akure, the state capital. He said the news of
the former governor’s death shocked the
members of the party, adding that they spoke
with him shortly after his return from the United
States.
“Shortly after his return from [the] USA, I spoke
with him and we even joked because I asked
him for my gift and he promised to give me
verbally but I refused and we joked over it and
promised to see in the next few days,” said Mr.
Alabi.
He revealed that the death of the former
governor is bound to cause a setback for the
party because of the internal crisis engulfing the
state.
The chairman said Mr. Agagu had earlier
promised to settle all lingering crises within the
state chapter of the PDP, which even made the
party to lose the last governorship election. He
added that President Goodluck Jonathan had
picked the deceased governor as one of a few
elders of the party to help rally support for the
president’s 2015 presidential ambition.
Mr. Alabi described the late governor as a man
worthy of emulation, and called on all party
faithful to come out en masse to mourn the late
former governor.
Also speaking, the Secretary to the State
Government (SSG) under the late governor,
Isaac Kekemeke, said Mr. Agagu will be
remembered for his impact on the state.
He said the sudden loss of the late former
governor was “a big blow” not only to the party
but also the country at large.
